3'4 x 14'2 Long Kurdish Runner / Rug Runner / Vintage Runner

Regular price $0.01

This is a really cool, antique Kurdish runner from over a century ago at an awesome size and with amazing art and character. What you will immediately notice is the phenomenal hand knotted art work on the deep indigo blue backdrop. It is remarkable and has locked in the history that we cherish for this heirloom is something so significant to us. The men were known to have been the ones who dyed the wool and the women were known to weave.

This runner travels to us from the 1880s from Kurdish weavers, a very small minority in areas that are north of Persia. It is in worn condition and one end of the border is missing, please see pics. Other minor areas near the same border had some bruises and we stitched it back up! Also in pics (look for the ones with the blue shoes to spot the areas we're talking about). :-)

Kurdish rugs are also known to be stout and solid! You can definitely feel the lamb's wool on this fine rug. The age and wear shows loads of character. It has a great pattern throughout the field of the rug and earthy tones with all of its natural dyes throughout.

Hand knotted circa 1880 in Kurdistan with all natural, vegetable dyed wool.
