A beautifully timeworn, hand-knotted Dagestan (or Daghestan) Caucasus wool prayer rug, produced in the 1860's.
This rug measures 3'2" x 5'8".

In their work of hand knotting these rugs, Dagestan weavers are patient and painstaking, sometimes spending two or three years weaving a single rug. This prayer rug has geometric designs throughout and a niche at one end, a hallmark of traditional prayer rug design.
