2'3 x 3'1 Antique Persian Scatter rug #2491

Regular price $750.00

This charming antique 1920’s Persian scatter rug was handwoven in Hamadan, Persia, known for their rug weaving traditions. A tree motif takes center stage with art that extends into a geometric-inspired and branched floral pattern.

The dyes show exquisite abrash that are attractive and equally soothing to look at, and we see it most evidenced with mesmerizing blue marbling of the floral motifs on two corners of the field of this scatter rug and on the opposite side of the field in that slate gray. You’ll also notice the gradient changes of color of sky blue to slate in the borders, further indicating the different batches of naturally dyed wool that was used to weave this little Persian. The maroon and hunter green provide an interesting contrast to the scarlet red, while the ivory in the central medallion and art within command attention.

This small rug, btw, is mighty and durable. Low pile but has some meat when you pinch. She’ll take on a lot of foot traffic.

It was woven by one woman and it’s a little piece to love and cherish. Place it in a space needing warmth, character, and a welcoming spirit, like a rear or side entry/exit door, or perhaps the laundry room, or a small bathroom that needs some character and soul…and enjoy its beauty.
