This is an early 1900s all over pattern, floral-geometric Persian Heriz. We go bananas for these. Handwoven with vegetable dyed wool, it has scattered wear earned through time. It is absolute perfection and your friends will notice it! The amazing medallions and motifs throughout just make you stop and stare. Go ahead, check out those gorgeous natural dyes and how they breath.
At room size, it will definitely make a statement with its design, color ways and aesthetic. The all over pattern design makes it easier and fun to style and it being that it is a Persian, you can enjoy it for decades to come. These are the infamous rugs that are going to get passed down, generation to generation. Please note that this rug has a patch on the border as well (see pics).
This beauty has abrash throughout, which are natural variations and shades of the natural dyes...it is exquisite and gorgeous art. The borders are exquisite and hug the rug so nicely with a beautiful slate blue, deep indigo blues and more. Nothing synthetic here! Old, fine quality wool that was dyed naturally and hand knotted. It must have taken a couple years to produce, and undoubtedly, with a few dyers and weavers.

More about this rug: Heriz rugs are known for their outstanding durability. Coined "the Iron Rug of Iran," Heriz rugs were produced in the Northwest corner of Iran, on and around Mount Sabalan. One reason for the toughness of Heriz carpets is that Mount Sabalan sits on a major deposit of copper. Trace copper in the drinking water of sheep produces the most desired wool for rug weaving because it makes wool that is stronger and more resilient than wool from most other areas. It is said that many Heriz rug designs are woven from memory, with intricate designs passed on through generations of artisans.
