5'6 x 12' Antique Karabagh Runner / Antique Russian Rug

Regular price $0.01

Hello, amazing old rug! This is one attractive work of art!

This vegetable dyed wool rug was made in the old province of Karabagh. It is an old Russian rug and can be related to a Caucasian rug. This is a special piece, right down to the beautiful hand knotted fringes!

Made of all natural, vegetable dyed wool, this rug has an all over even, low and soft pile. The immediate attraction to this rug of course is the stunning geometric art and color ways. What you will also immediately notice is the abrash in the rug, which is the special characteristics of the variance of the all natural dyes. These are different batches of dyed wool that weavers took to the loom. This rug is in amazing shape, with a little wear and tear you can see along the edges (shown in pics). It is a very durable and old rug with centuries to go.

Karabagh rugs are thought to have one of the most varied design traditions with rich history in their rug and they are sought after by collectors and designers due to their distinct designs and color schemes.
