Careful, this coral ground Soumak has some kind of fatal attraction.
Large and commanding attention, this amazing Caucasian (Russian origin) is from Soumak. It’s from the early 1900s and we're so lucky to have found it. The amazing dyes are bold and the color story has exquisite contrast.
This wool on wool, flat weave rug was made in the mountains and it features medallions and intricate motifs throughout. The borders feature ram horns that were woven in. The lovely rug lends itself well to the detailed weft-wrapped weaving technique known as Soumak.
This rug has enormous character and is in immaculate condition with lightly scattered wear. Since this is a thin and low pile flat weave, you may want to consider a rug pad that we can custom cut to size for this rug so that it stays nice n snug. Here is a link if you'd like to add it to order:
