7'8 x 10'9 Antique Persian Heriz (#865ML)

Regular price $0.01

Highly stylized hand woven work with all natural dyes, this beautiful and bountiful Persian Heriz from the 1920s definitely strikes a chord!

Low pile and with rich, saturated dyes, this rug is in amazing shape for its age and has a very rare border design we've never seen or collected.

The artisans of this rug have left us with a very joyful Persian with immense style and character, and, it is in great shape for its age with lightly scattered wear. The french blue corners are divine! In the central medallion and border ground color, you will see  deep indigo blue dyes (appears black, but is indeed blue).

Fun facts: Fun facts: Heriz rugs are known for their strength & durability. Coined "the Iron Rug of Iran," Heriz rugs were produced in the Northwest corner of Iran, on and around Mount Sabalan. One reason for the toughness of Heriz carpets is that Mount Sabalan sits on a major deposit of copper. Trace copper in the drinking water of sheep produces the most desired wool for rug weaving because it makes wool that is stronger and more resilient than wool from most other areas. It is said that many Heriz rug designs are woven from memory, with intricate designs passed on through generations of artisans.
