If you're interested in this rug, please message us as there is a "soft hold" on it for a designer client of ours. thx!

This durable Persian has taken a beating and keeps on ticking! Timeworn and delicious, this is a circa 1900 tribal beauty from Heriz that offers up all the character you need in an old antique rug: the eye catching French blue corners, large indigo blue central medallion and natural wear that has a lot of character. The vegetable dyes are phenomenal and the geometric design and hand knotted art work is so scrumptious.

This Northwest Persian was has been bathed thoroughly and also given some TLC to heal some of its bruises/tears. It has amazing, coarse wool that is ever durable and old world amazing! Please see pics for reference for condition. It is in better shape now that we've restored it some and while it has some scars, it is ready for another century of life to show off its sexy figure!

Hand Knotted in Iran circa 1900
Made of all natural, vegetable dyed wool

Fun facts: Heriz rugs are known for their outstanding durability. Coined "the Iron Rug of Persia," Heriz rugs were produced in the Northwest corner of Persia, on and around Mount Sabalan. One reason for the toughness of Heriz carpets is that Mount Sabalan sits on a major deposit of copper. Trace copper in the drinking water of sheep produces the most desired wool for rug weaving because it makes wool that is stronger and more resilient than wool from most other areas. It is said that many Heriz rug designs are woven from memory, with intricate designs passed on through generations of artisans.
