Dreamy, isn't it?

Absolutely stunning antique handmade Persian Heriz rug, produced circa 1900. This fun Heriz has coarse knotting with a sophisticated geometric design. Its color ways will brighten each day. Yes, we love that french blue too! And it is so LOVE WORN! Earned through time and history with those irresistible natural dyes that are so graceful and delicious.

Heriz's are one of the most sought after antique rugs and the durability of this heavy rug will last for generations to come.

This NW Persian rug is low pile and has variance in shades of dyes throughout, which is natural for a hand knotted rug. Please see pics for reference (taken indoor and outdoor for your viewing pleasure).

Fun facts: Heriz rugs are known for their outstanding durability. Coined "the Iron Rug of Persia," Heriz rugs were produced in the Northwest corner of Persia, on and around Mount Sabalan. One reason for the toughness of Heriz carpets is that Mount Sabalan sits on a major deposit of copper. Trace copper in the drinking water of sheep produces the most desired wool for rug weaving because it makes wool that is stronger and more resilient than wool from most other areas. It is said that many Heriz rug designs are woven from memory, with intricate designs passed on through generations of artisans.
