Skinny Tribal Persian Runner / 2'9 x 9'6 Skinny Heriz Gharajeh Runner #4508

Regular price $3,870.00

Need it on the skinny? Ya, I know, because I get a lot of messages about it. :-)

Well, if you've landed here, you know its not an easy find, especially when it comes to old rugs...they were typically woven wider. At 2'9 wide, this antique Gharajeh Heriz runner is the narrow format that actually works in those tricky spots, the tight hallway, the galley kitchen, the awkward stretch between rooms that's been waiting years for the right rug. And this is absolutely the right rug.

The field is a deep, moody space blue (navy-ish) and it is stunning. Tribal medallions stack down the center in that bold, confident Persian Gharajeh way, surrounded by iconic geometric elements, angular botanical forms, and those mountain-inspired motifs in the edge guards that remind you this rug was made by hand in the mountains of northwest Persia, in the 1920s. The rust border frames it beautifully and this old baby is floor ready.

Now here's the part to note: the abrash. See how one side of the border drifts into a cooler, almost ice blue? That's abrash, the natural color variation that happens when a weaver runs out of one dye batch and picks up another. In machine-made rugs it would be a flaw. In a handwoven antique? It's proof. Proof that a real person made this, knot by knot, with naturally dyed wool that shifts and breathes the way only vegetable dyes can. It's not an inconsistency. It's a signature.

The wool is healthy, the wool pile is pretty even, and this rug feels as good as it looks. A century old and nowhere near done. It's durable and able to take on generations more.

Handwoven with wool that has been dyed with natural resources, such as flowers, plants, and vegetables. This wonderful, tribal rug is really eye-catching. Will ship with a custom cut rug pad on the house to give it grip.
