Uniqueness comes to mind when talking about antique Persian rugs. Each rug has been handwoven with a specific pattern that comes from the mind of that particular master craftswoman. So, each beautiful Persian rug is special and one of a kind.

This gorgeous antique 1920’s Persian Malayer exemplifies this idea perfectly. The central field has three vertical botanical segments in blush pink, peach orange, mint green, and French blue against a moody navy blue ground, like bean stocks heading up into the night sky. This is an unusual design feature that collectors will covet and it's the first in the collection.

The two smaller borders include a scorpion motif in alternating colors against a burnt orange ground, which they say was to ward off scorpions. This design element provides insight into the world the craftswoman lived and worked in.

The saturated color ways represent the wonderful natural sources, such as vegetables, flowers, plants, and roots, used to dye the wool of this rich, Persian rug. It has a low pile and is in excellent condition, another testament to the high quality of this beauty after a century of life.
