A time-worn antique Caucasian that carries all the grit and tribal strength collectors chase. Handwoven with 100% vegetable dyed wool, this piece shows off mellowed natural dyes that have softened beautifully over time. The field glows with a striking and rarely seen French blue ground full of abrash…that wonderful shifting of color that only old vegetable dyes can deliver. Across the surface are six large hexagonal medallions, each drawn with tribal energy. Between them, smaller motifs keep the eye dancing around the field.
You’ll spot eight-pointed stars scattered throughout…symbols of happiness and fertility woven in by the original maker. Little bird motifs are present too, a playful detail that feels like a quiet signature from the weaver. The border bands frame this Caucasus rug with graphic rhythm, alternating colors and angular tribal forms that give the rug a punchy edge.
The pile sits low and worn from a long life on the floor, giving it that relaxed, broken-in surface lovers of old Caucasian rugs appreciate. Packed with symbolism, personality, and old soul…this one has stories woven into every inch.
