Antique Persian Lavar Kerman Scatter Rug / 1'10 × 2'5 Rug #4504

Regular price $720.00

A tiny little Persian rug that pulls you in close and asks of you to take a good look. It's got a lot going on in its small size and with art work that's truly unique, a stand out in the BPR collection.

This 1880s Persian Lavar Kerman is itty bitty in size and enormous in presence and it delivers the full vocabulary of one of Persia’s most celebrated weaving traditions.

The oatmeal-ivory ground is calm. Two mirrored floral compositions grow upward from the base, their forms curling and unfurling. It's as if someone pressed a garden into wool. The palette is jewel-soft: deep crimson, sky blue, blush pink,  tan, fuschia, and those greens. Sage, celadon, moss. The kind of greens that only come from a master dyer working with pomegranate, indigo, and time. Vegetable dyed throughout. This itty bitty being is a prize to cherish.

The weave is fine and tight, skilled hands, unhurried work, the kind of craft that takes years to develop and a lifetime to perfect.

Low pile, nicely worn in the way only an 1880s piece can be, softened through the decades, still looking good and with lovely age related character. She has a little tear in a corner (please see close up pic).

The foundation is solid. This little rug has survived 140+ years and is ready for more.

Lay it on the floor as an accent. Hang it on a wall as the art it truly is. Drape it over a chest or ottoman. Frame it. This Persian will be at home anywhere it lands and will bring the kind of beauty that only age can make.
