This is a 1920s Turkmen rug with a different twist from how we typically see color ways. It has a soft ground color of light magenta. Its an old rug woven with wool, on a wool foundation.
The pattern you see are very common amongst these woven rugs. The octagonal elements you see throughout are actually elephant footprints. It was hand knotted by the nomadic tribe with natural resources used to dye the wool (veggies, fruits, plants, flowers).
It is in worn condition, parallel to time and history.
A great deal for a fun and old world rug that can be styled anywhere! We do recommend a rug pad and can add it to order for $50 more, cut to size.
Hand knotted with vegetable dyed wool
(sorry, USA only. Canada $50 flat)
