Here's a large and amazing 1930s rug anchored by a majestic deep plum ground and enchanting floral motifs. The wide and light canary yellow border frames this rug beautifully, which likely came from sparak, a wild flower from the steppes to make this exquisite and natural dye color.
This antique rug was made by village weavers in the town of Sparta, located in Turkey. They were predominately woven during the 1920’s and 1930’s. The rug was recently washed and shows off it's natural glow with lanolin rich wool.
Low pile with scattered wear.Woven with all natural, vegetable dyed wool.
