3’4 x 5’ Vintage Prayer Rug #2727

Regular price $1,100.00

This is a fantastic vintage prayer rug from the mid-20th century with an amazing design and color story that is in excellent condition. Prayer rugs are always woven small and this rug was most likely owned by one person who kept it with them when they traveled and went about their days. One end of the rug has a niche that represents the Mihrab of a mosque and is meant to be pointed towards Mecca when praying.

Linear arrow motifs emphasize the direction in which to pray, alternating in awesome colors of ivory and navy blue. The border bands continue the color story adding ornate floral detailing and framing this lovely rug perfectly.

This beauty is a clean low wool pile scatter rug on a wool foundation. You can see the raw wool fringes and it is a testament to how wonderfully woven this piece is. The original dyes can be seen with the pic of the “flip” and they have aged on the top of the rug so beautifully that it will surely compliment most home décor.
