From the Persian Bakhtiari tribe, this is an excellent example of one of their great rugs woven. Framed beautifully with a highly intricate border and a field of all over motifs with lattice like design, this 100+ year old antique rug has amazing detail and greatly aged vegetable dyes.
This rug has a heavy feel and is 100% wool. On a navy blue ground with rust borders and various dyes that boast variation from different batches of naturally dyed wool used to weave. It has scattered wear and please note, the width varies from 3'7 to 3'10, which is a natural characteristic of old, handwoven rugs.
Low pile, aged well. With scattered wear. Handwoven with vegetable dyed wool from circa 1900.
