Woven by mountain weavers in early 1900s, this is an outstanding and durable Kurdish runner with boteh (paisleys) and diamond medallions running down the inner field. The borders feature floral and continuous design throughout. This is a very stout runner with many generations to go. The rug is old, has some wear to foundation, see pics. We can re-secure the wear to foundation from the underside if you like, but we always leave the rugs as virgins for the client to tell us what they prefer.
She who weaved this rug represents the primitive people of the tribe who washed and separated the best wool of her own family's sheep to weave what is now a most cherished artifact and beautiful folk art. This Kurdistan runner is simply a beautiful and decorative piece to add true charm to a home with the durability of old world wool to last for generations to come.
Hand knotted with all natural dyes (vegetable dyed wool).
