This botanical beauty represents one of the best of Mahal village weavings, known as Sultanabad. It boasts great hand woven work, a floppy handle, and natural dyes that have aged superbly. The striking art we enjoy are those beautiful, larger scale floral motifs that dance and flow across its field. There is a graceful contrast and amazing juxtaposition with the navy blue background and the moody, rusty-red border that frames the field and gives us a great sense of depth, proportion and space.
Low pile, worn. Hand woven with all natural dyes, circa 1880. At an amazing value for an upper tier tribal Persian rug and a harder to find navy blue ground piece.
We recommend a rug pad for this piece, to keep it in place when styled. You can order one through the shop and we will custom cut it to size and send on order. https://www.shopblueparakeetrugs.com/collections/rug-pads/products/large-rug-pad
