Beautifully love worn and aged through time and its history, this turn of the century antique tribal Heriz was woven in the slopes of Mt. Sabalan of Northwest Persia and with all natural vegetable dyed wool. It took some years and multiple weavers to produce this room size piece and its angular look and style, along with its present day character is captivating.
On a midnight blue ground (can appear as charcoal) in the field and framed by a rust border featuring turtle elements, this highly stylized rug is prized as Heriz rugs are pieces that are and have remained in high demand due to their amazing rectilinear art and movement that is edgy and distinguished. The vegetable dyes and the exquisite abrash is very evident and mesmerizing as you see the gradient change and use of different lots of naturally dyed wool. Extended at a wonderful value for age, art and quality. Freshly bathed and ready for its next home.
Low pile, worn, but fully intact. Has one patch at edge guard/border, please see pics.
Handwoven circa 1900 with all natural, vegetable dyed wool.
