This classic antique 1880s Persian Heriz Serapi rug has got a twist! It has an exceptionally desirable teal blue border not often seen in Persian rugs. There is a gradient color change throughout that really shows off the amazing natural dyes and provides a storyline of how this lovely rug was handwoven with different batches of vegetable dyed wool.
The main medallion has a bold botanical themed design, surrounded by a midnight blue outline that makes the central area more prominent. The varying shades of blue really stand out and draws people in. Additionally, there is a light sage and mint green popping up throughout the rug which are celebrated because they are less commonly found in Persian rugs.
Although gorgeous Persian tribal rugs like these usually have a busier stylized art pattern, the Serapi gives more breath-ability in their design, providing more negative space for the medallion and botanical motifs to catch the eye. This beauty has a low pile and scattered heavy wear that gives it a shabby chic vibe that would jazz up any space it calls home.
