If you want to add distinctive charm to your floor and home décor, celebrate it with this amazing Samarkand rug, because it is simply brilliant. With a gorgeous aesthetic style and vibrant dyes, Samarkand rugs were woven on the loom by women from the tribe of Uzbek and Kyrgyz.
The art work we cherish today comes from a rich history of people that were influenced from a variety of cultures. The reason why is, Samarkand is a city in Uzbekistan, located along the Silk Road. In modern day, this is Xinjiang, China. These rugs point to a definite and masterful effect of Chinese, P e r s i a n, and Indian influences, in part because it originated from a major crossroads of trading, where goods would pass through. It’s an ancient route where many ideas, philosophies, art and more were transmitted from one culture to another, and these influences definitely played into the rugs that come from this region and regions alike.
This rug, dating back to around the 1940s has a beautiful garden like design with over-scale floral medallions and vines, in a lattice like pattern. It is low pile wool rug on an ivory ground. In great condition for it’s age.
