2’10 x 8’8 Antique Akstafa Caucasus Runner #2290 / Vintage skinny runner

Regular price $2,250.00

This is a lovely Akstafa tribal runner with loads of folk art, hand knotted circa 1870-1880, woven in the region of Caucasus, near Mt. Sabalan. It was woven with vegetable dyed wool, and it is low pile and was skillfully created.

It features amazing peacocks with an up arrow element (may be a spiritual point) throughout, as well as camels, gazelles and other tribal motifs. This runner has scattered wear and comes with amazing story and character. The central medallion is an 8 pointed star medallion with warm shades of beige, deep wine and light shades of coral and just above it you can see a human element woven in. The borders are in sangria ground and the field is a deep navy blue.

:: We recommend a rug pad under this puppy...and you can order one through us if you'd like, to help keep this rug in place and we can custom cut it for you to size: https://www.shopblueparakeetrugs.com/collections/rug-pads/products/medium-runner-rug-pad

All the dyes you see are completely natural, from all the resources the tribespeople had around to use (veggies, plants and flowers).
