This magnificent and beautifully woven antique Persian Mahal is low pile, well aged and it is full of character and stately wonder. Characterized by a vibrant and yet refined color palette, it features various shades of lipstick red all throughout. The well defined botanical motifs are well spaced and the borders in dark navy blue feature more edgy and geometric floral form that frame this rug beautifully.
Worn and floppy, this village rug was woven in the 1920s and with a skinnier width than we typically see on a rug of 16 feet in length. You can see that this Persian is well composed and it has a longer "torso" as the size is somewhat longer and leaner. It will function fabulously to ground a space that needs this shape and will be a radiating rug with substantial age and beauty. Woven circa 1920.
