This late 19th century Sultanabad Mahal is a total standout, the kind of rug you notice immediately for all the right reasons. It comes from the collection of a seriously esteemed collector who lived a long, full life, and we’re honored to have it. It was handwoven with vegetable dyed wool, with the kind of craftsmanship Persian weavers are known for.
Against a soft ivory ground, it has an amazing allover pattern where each medium-sized tribal motif shines with its own gorgeous color story, with various shades of blues, greens, oranges, and pinks, all surrounded by sweet little floral touches. The interlocked design is like a really good playlist, you think you’ve picked a favorite spot, but then another one steals your attention.
The dainty borders, include one with a moody blue backdrop and stylized paisley motifs, adding just the right amount of drama. Floor ready and looking fantastic! Check out this the little video clip on this beauty, too.
