Originating from Serab in the Northwest Mountain region of Persia, this fabulous antique 1900 Persian camel hair runner stands out from the crowd with a bold design with lines that look like raking patterns in sand, which can have a calming effect on the mind. Diamond medallions with serrated edges in dusty ocean blue with hints of ivory, blush, and faded red against a camel ground pair wonderfully with the linearity of the raking-like pattern.
There is a fence of security design on the edge guard symbolizing a need for protection in blush red, crimson, sapphire blue against an ivory ground. Surrounding the decorative border is un-dyed camel hair wool which complements the amazing earthy color ways of the all-natural vegetable dyed wool.
This beauty has been love worn and has on area alongside one edge with an indentation. It was woven on a wool foundation and has a low pile. Although this beautiful runner is sturdy and fully intact, it has scattered wear and one minor area of wear with wool loss in particular that can be seen in the pictures.
