The nomadic peoples of the Caucasus Mountains hand wove this little scatter rug over a hundred years ago, circa 1900. These tribal designs convey a sense of history and soul, a glimpse into the minds and hearts of the weavers themselves. Powerful 8 point star motifs fill the field and graphic motif with scrolls resembling S hook motifs are along the border. These motifs were traditionally believed to ward off the evil eye, providing protection and bringing good fortune to the owner.
Low pile and with a floppy handle, woven with all natural, vegetable dyed wool with very prominent and powerful design, displaying moody and saturated color ways. This old rug is in good condition and some areas were masterfully restored. Will ship with a custom cut rug pad to keep this beauty nice and snug.
