4' x 7'5 Antique NW Persian Rug #3053

Regular price $1,075.00

This antique Persian rug was handwoven in the 19th century, and originates from Northwest Persia, where summers are hot and winters can be very cold. This awesome piece of floor art features a design with triple diamond medallions and one little medallion on one side, embellished with paisleys, delicate flower heads, and the majestic peacock within the field.

The border band motifs are reminiscent of water spouting from a fountain in a lush garden, creating a sense of rejuvenation and vitality. The overall ambiance of the rug exudes a shabby chic aesthetic, with its beautifully aged natural dyes and a patina that exudes a chill and relaxed vibe. This mellowed Persian exudes old beauty and has a wonderful, floppy handle to its wonderful wool.

A testament to the mastery of the tribal weavers, they utilized natural resources such as plants, vegetables, and flowers to create the stunning colors that adorn this piece. Pops of royal blue against the warmer red hues create an interesting combination between warm and cool tones. One remarkable feature is the abrash effect, where the madder root dye comes through so strongly, creating wonderful variations in tone and depth.

This rug has been cherished and loved over the years, and its obvious wear only adds to its beauty. The lovely patterns and colors have gracefully withstood the test of time, creating a unique and soulful character. It is a true treasure that will bring warmth, history, and a touch of exotic charm to any space.
