This beautiful woven rug with floral design comes from Kerman, located in South Central Persia. These pretty rugs and carpets are perhaps one of the most recognizable within the antique Persian rug category. Marco Polo made these floral beauties shine and amplified these specific rugs as they were his favorite. In the 1970s, there was so much demand for these Persians that they were quite inflated in price for their art and hard to find.
This mid 20th Century Kerman is weighted, fluffy and tightly woven. With lovely natural dyes, this Persian showcases sensational French blue, rose pink, mauve pink, pistachio green, chestnut brown, baby blue, and a light peach on an antique ivory ground. It exhibits luxurious and soft, plush wool that you'll feel is soothing underfoot. The beautiful border with its botanical art is known as a broken border, as it does not have a traditional border but rather extends into the field.
