Vintage Tribal Rug / 3'4 x 5'11 Antique Persian Baluch Rug #3210

Regular price $635.00

Travel to a faraway place back in time when nomadic tribes roamed the realm of Persia and used their amazing weaving skills to make wonderful scatter rugs. Hailing from the Persian Baluchi tribe, this beautiful antique 1880s tribal Baluch rug would be a wonderful addition to any space needing a bit of historical flair. A strong geometric design in earthy tones fills the field with diamond like motifs and in the border, we suspect a caterpillar design with continuous movement.

This fantastic low pile and worn rug was handwoven with wool that was dyed using natural resources, such as plants, flowers, and vegetables. It is a very soft wool, which gives it a floppy handle and folds up like a handkerchief. This beauty is ready to bring a soulful presence and welcoming spirit to its new home. Baluch rugs are ever so tribal and almost always comes in earthy tones such as this one. This antique rug features two different weaving techniques, showing off the skills of its weaver, with a knotted field and flat-weave kilim ends.

Woven with vegetable dyed wool on a wool foundation. Low pile with scattered wear. Please see pics for full character and condition. One tiny patch in the kilim border.
