This is an old village rug from Southwest P E R S I A, hand knotted by tribal weavers of S H I R A Z, which happens to be home to the famous Qashqai tribe.
This circa early 1900s S H I R A Z has super soft wool, is low wool pile and worn to perfection. It sits on a wool foundation as well and displays immense character, showing off its tribal look n style that has been earned through. There is beautiful abrash on this rug (variation of natural, vegetable dyes).
Coarsely woven and tribal, it shows off diamond medallions, motifs, and animal elements throughout and this village rug is fully intact and has a tremendous amount of soul to give. You will undoubtedly feel the luxury of old world wool and notice how it will fold up like a soft blankie.
