This is an old village rug, hand knotted by tribal weavers, the famous Qashqai tribe.
Woven circa 1880, the geometric design features triple diamond medallions in its field. The weavers included many elements in the rug, including animals, fish and pinwheels of life, which undoubtedly symbolizes to us the weaver's story, community and history.
This is a wool on wool foundation rug, naturally dyed with vegetables, roots and plant resources. It displays a ton of character, age and wear. It would look great on a hard wood floor as well as on stone. The strength in its earthy and natural color ways is soothing and bold at the same time.
