This antique Persian camel hair rug from the 1920s is all about personality and structure. A lattice-like design creates a loose grid across the field, but it’s far from rigid. Mid-sized medallions drift above it like little islands, giving it a playful, almost floating effect. Peek closer and you'll spot lively decorative flourishes tucked inside the lattice, adding unexpected charm without being loud about it.
The palette is warm and neutral thanks to the undyed camel hair border, with subtle shifts from the vegetable-dyed wool in the field giving the whole thing an earthy, grounded vibe. Around the edges, a border band rolls out a pattern of repeating rosettes linked by tight lines that transition to another floral inspired motif, a design that anchors the whole rug without taking center stage.
It’s got some scattered wear, nothing major, just the kind of lived-in look you’d expect from a nearly century-old piece that’s been doing its job (please see pics for full character and condition.) Plus, it’s a hefty one that was woven thick and sturdy to last. Durable enough for the whole family, paws included. At around 6x12, it’s long and lean, perfect for a hallway, large entry, or anywhere that needs a big dose of character.
Handwoven with vegetable dyed wool.
