11x15 Antique Soumak Flat Weave Rug #1479 / Large Kilim

Large and in charge! This is an amazing Soumak rug from the 1920s (woven in the Caucasus mountains) and we're so lucky to have found it. This wool on wool, flat weave rug was hand woven in the mountains and it features bold and amazing medallions and intricate motifs throughout. The lovely rug lends itself well to the detailed weft-wrapped weaving technique known as Soumak. 

This rug has perfect, light wear and character and is in pretty good condition! Perhaps the biggest prize about this rug is its size! This is quite rare to find an oversize Soumak (measuring up at 11 x 14’10) and you will know if you’ve been looking. It is highly decorative and meaningful with immense history, art and culture that would be a statement piece in the home.
