There’s something about the navy ground that just does it so well on this old rug, it’s deep and moody, and the moment light hits the wool, the whole thing glows. This antique 1920s Turkish Sparta has that quality in spades, an all-over flowering vine design that sprawls across the field with an easy, unhurried grace…with room to breathe.
At about 12x20, this is a room-defining piece. Handwoven with vegetable dyed wool throughout, the pile is low, the handle is soft, the rug is sturdy and able to take on a lot of traffic and life.
