3’7 x 16’9 Rose Garden Antique Karabagh Runner (#907) / 4x17 vintage runner

Regular price $2,950.00

Woven circa 1900 comes to us from the foothills of the Caucasus this outstanding rose garden Karabagh runner on a charcoal ground. Rug weaving had been taking place in this region as far back as the early 13th century and from what we know, Karabagh rugs were among the most prominent rugs to be exported to medieval Europe.

These beauties were generally woven in the home or in small workshops. They say that weaving rugs would be the main vocation for a woman’s entire life. At their death, their tools such as their hook, comb, and scissors, and even their looms were engraved on their tombstones. Today, we cherish these unbelievable works of art that was left behind from the old world, with quality and value that lasts for generations more.

Low Pile, woven with vegetable dyed wool. Please see pics for character and condition. It has one patch on the side border and one tiny patch on the end near the fringe.

We do recommend a rug pad to keep this runner in place. You can grab one with us at BPR and we’ll custom cut it for you on order. Here is the info on the pad: https://www.shopblueparakeetrugs.com/collections/rug-pads/products/extra-long-runner-rug-pad
