4x12 Worn 19th Century Kurdish Runner #695

Regular price $1,125.00

This is a really cool, love worn Persian hand knotted Kurdish runner from the 1880s. It is tribal and comes from the southernmost Caucasus region, woven by Kurdish weavers.

It's naturally dyed wool features ochre, lagoon and olive medallions on an ochre hued field. It has a great pattern of medallions throughout the field of the rug and earthy tones. This runner is worn, mainly on one side, near the top border. Please see pics.

You will see many symbolic elements throughout the runner, including wine cups and serrated leaves in the border along with animals and other meaningful elements in the field that tell us the weaver's story with every knot.

Kurdish rugs are also known to be stout and solid! You can definitely feel the lamb's wool on this rug. It is durable, floppy and the wool has generations to go. The age and wear shows its great age with loads of cool character.
