This antique 1920s Persian runner from the Hamadan region packs a lot of character and has amazing color ways. The field is densely packed with a repeating pattern in the field, including the Herati motif, the classic water garden design that flows across the deep midnight blue ground. It is framed by a main border band with small, abstract shapes against an ocean blue ground.
A bold streak of crimson red pops up at one end, a telltale sign of handwoven craftsmanship and vegetable dyed wool from different batches. That little quirk is a part of what makes it one-of-a-kind. Hefty in weight, this piece has a real presence underfoot. There’s a single patch on the border, and you’ll see some age-related wear throughout (please see pics for full character and condition), but nothing that takes away from its charm. It’s stout and a solid, well-loved rug with a unique story woven right in and in good condition for its age.
