This 1930s Persian Dargazin is absolutely humming with color. Saturated raspberry reds, electric blues, pops of tangerine, olive, blush, ivory, and charcoal all colliding together in that way only old Persian village rugs seem to pull off correctly. The charcoal border frames the entire composition beautifully and gives the floral movement a strong darker edge that keeps all the color grounded instead of overly sweet.
The central medallion almost blooms outward like a clover or lozenge form, surrounded by scrolling florals and vase-like elements packed tightly into the field. Everywhere your eye lands there’s another little surprise woven in.
The wool on this one is especially satisfying under hand. Original wool pile remains intact with a shorter finish under hand…so while the pile sits lower and more compact, there’s still a healthy, luxurious pinch of wool throughout the rug. Not thin. Not tired. Just beautifully aged with that velvety old-world surface everyone hopes for.
Supple weave with flexibility under hand and excellent condition overall. Vegetable dyed wool with brilliant natural dyes still glowing nearly a century later. Clean, sturdy, and absolutely floor ready.
