2'3 x 4'10 Antique 19th Century Turkoman rug #2447

Regular price $0.01

This powerful antique Turkoman rug has an unusual size, shape, and format.  This is a horizontal rug spanning from left to right with a bold graphic design. We generally don’t see rugs woven this way.

With elephant track motifs in rose red, cornflower blue, midnight blue, and ivory against a brick red-rust ground with phenomenal abrash, this lovely rug could liven up any space in need of charm. There are also rams horn motifs throughout the rug that symbolizes power and masculinity. The amazing colors and shades of blue are exquisite against its rust-y color ground.

A nomadic wool piece, circa 1880, woven by the Turkoman tribe with a wool foundation and dyed with natural vegetable dyes. Although missing a border on one side, it has amazing character, texture and a worn low pile. This wonderful rug is so soft it folds up like a handkerchief. It could be used as floor art, a wall hanging, or even placed somewhere fun for decoration, like on top of a dresser or cabinet for flare and style.
