3'10 x 5' Antique Eagle Kazak rug #2014 / 4x5 Vintage Rug

Regular price $1,300.00

From the southeast Caucasus, bordering northern Persia, here's a splendid late 19th Century Eagle Kazak with remarkable contrasting colors and vivid, natural, vegetable dyes. This mountainous area that stretches from the Caspian Sea to the Black Sea is the modern day Azerbaijan and southern Russia territory, and it was the villages of this region where some of the most widely collected rugs originated and were woven, from 1880-1900.
This particularly artful Kazak (also known as Chelaberd rugs) has three prominent eagle motifs in the field of the rug and features stunning color ways that are bold and those pops of baby blue dyes definitely steals our hearts. The weavers used local resources with mastery to create the most exquisite natural dyes we see here.
The rug is low pile and has two areas that have been recently repaired, please see pics. It is intact, clean and ready to represent with great beauty and history.
