3'10 x 5'3 Antique Souf Rug (#1301ML)

Woven with a very rare technique of 3D dimensionality, this is our first antique P E R S I A N Souf rug in the collection. The antique ivory wool ground is flat weave and the design of the rug was executed with a raised pile, a style that is not common or found in other rugs. This is a fine piece to cherish possessing exceptional form and artwork.

We suspect this rug is from the A F S H A R tribe and was woven circa 1900. It has paisleys within the field. This motif represents the idea of life and fertility. We attribute the paisley element in rugs as “seeds of life”. The nomads from A F S H A R, a region in southeast P E R S I A have a great legacy and this one in Souf design is all the more valued as a beautiful collective to have. It can be used as a floor piece or as a wall hanging for a gorgeous backdrop in the home or office.
