This fabulous antique 1920s Persian Bakhtiari rug is full of punch and an energetic spirit. The center field is highly stylized and looks a bit like a stained glass window, with eight-pointed stars radiating around the medallion, symbols of joy and cosmic balance. The ivory ground really makes those shapes pop. If you're into color, the abrashed blues are a treat, especially in the main border band where things get extra lively with the shift in blue tones. The borders are full of decorative botanical motifs that echo the party going on in the middle.
It’s handwoven with wool dyed using natural sources like plants, vegetables, and flowers, anchored by a stout cotton foundation. The pile is low, giving it a worn-in charm, and although there’s a little wool missing in one corner, the rug is in healthy shape and ready to roll. Please see pics for full character and condition.
