Woven in an Anatolian tribal language, this piece carries a strong, graphic presence. The field runs in bands of deep red with stacked serrated medallions…those angular forms hitting in saffron and inky navy, while zigzag motifs move through the center like a steady rhythm.
The vegetable dyed wool shows beautiful natural variation throughout with subtle shifts in the red that give it life and depth. That wide, near-black border grounds the whole thing and frames it in a way that will feel grounding.
Flat woven, so no pile…it’s a weave with a great hand. It’s got body to it, not flimsy. You’ll see light undulation and age that come with a piece that’s been around and used well…exactly what you want here. Entry, bedside, or even up on the wall if you want to treat it like the textile it is.
