Antique Eagle Kazak Rug / 4’2 x 8’7 Rug #4115

Regular price $2,160.00

Woven high in the Caucasus mountains, this old soul absolutely commands attention… in the best way. No young lamb here…this beauty has well over 150 years woven into its wool and shows up with presence. One of a kind? Completely. But even more than that…it’s DISTINCT.

The field is loaded with art history and symbolic storytelling. Handwoven with vegetable-dyed wool on a wool foundation, it carries what collectors recognize as eagle motifs…a powerful emblem in Caucasian weaving. For the mountain tribes, the eagle stands for courage, wisdom, and freedom…a guardian of the highlands and a protector woven right into daily life.

The pile is low, the handle is floppy, and the wool has that earthy, natural feel only the real old pieces have. Worn, weathered, and full of character from roughly the 1880s. Please see the photos for all the nuances, quirks, and charm that only a century-and-a-half-old rug can bring.
