A glowing antique Persian Sarouk from the 1920s, handwoven with vegetable dyed wool and drenched in a rich berry-near magenta ground. This small yet powerful piece carries the hallmarks of Sarouk artistry: a dense floral field with sprays and bouquets branching out around a central rosette medallion, all framed by a midnight navy border blooming with stylized flowers.
The dyes are superb. Showcased are deep berry reds, midnight blues, and golden accents that create contrast and rhythm. The wool has that classic Sarouk handle: heavy duty, weighted, and still carrying a beautiful sheen from lanolin oils held in the fibers. The design itself is both refined and lush, with blossoms, palmettes, and leafy vines woven in a balanced garden-like arrangement.
This rug is in superb condition for its age, with full pile, she's resilient, a testament to the durability that Sarouks are so celebrated for. A supremely durable Persian heirloom, built with generations to go and loads of love still to give.
