Handwoven high up in the Caucasus mountains in the late 19th century, this tribal beauty carries that powerful, protective energy those weavers were known for. Every motif feels intentional…symbols of strength, guardians against the evil eye, geometry that means business.
That deep blue ground anchors the whole piece with creamy neutrals and pops of warm orange that outline the medallion and tribal motifs, like little sparks of fire and energy. The border displays random bursts of color…like the weaver couldn’t resist adding a wink here and there. Feels like a signature to the ancient scatter rug.
She’s low pile, worn, with some battle scars. Some wear n' tear, yes…but the kind that only 100 plus years of real life can create. Vegetable dyed wool, mellowed and softened, with that beautiful hand that only old tribal rugs have. Please see pics for full character and condition.
