Small Antique Persian Malayer Rug / 2'7 × 4'2 Rug #4491

Regular price $1,170.00

Small in size. Big in personality. This one has a lot to say.

This antique Persian Malayer is woven on a ground that sits somewhere between blush and terra cotta...warm, earthy, the color of sun-baked clay at dusk. Against it, a bold, little central medallion spreads its geometric arms in midnight navy and warm wheat, surrounded by a field packed with angular floral forms, hooked vines, and the confident improvisation of a weaver working from memory rather than blueprint.

The navy border frames it all with repeating geometric medallions and stepped forms...they're dense and rhythmic, the kind of border that earns its keep. Every inch of this rug is occupied, intentional, and wildly fun and alive. Malayer weavers from western Persia had a particular gift for fitting a whole world into a small format, and this piece delivers exactly that.

Vegetable dyed wool throughout. Low pile, good solid construction. In good condition for its age, with age expected wear. It has lived well and still has plenty of living left to do. Lots of personality. The character is in every knot. Feel free to style it in a high traffic zone, it can handle it and I'll send a custom cut rug pad on the house to give it the grip. Thanks for shopping small.
