Hamadan rugs from this era were woven by single-weaver households in the northwest of Persia, and you feel that handmade personality all over this piece. The drawing is free, fun, and full of movement. The medallion sits on a warm pink ground, surrounded by a navy field that’s dancing with botanicals and those stylized paisley forms.
The wool is nice n meaty…luxurious in hand…with that thicker pile that makes old Hamadans so lovable. It folds easily, the dyes are rich and saturated, and the border has that charming geometric lane that frames all the color in such a sweet way.
