This ivory ground rug from the village of Mahal is a particular one. It is a Sultanabad, which is distinguished as one of the oldest and highest quality Mahal carpets. It has a soft, floppy handle. The rug is distinct as it is square, and square is rare!
It is low pile, fully intact and has strong and wide, beautiful pink borders. The field of the rug showcases fish motifs and floral motifs with a spatial design that allows each design element woven to breath and be independent of each other.
Hand woven in the 1880s with all natural, vegetable dyed wool. The ivory/ creamy oatmeal ground will look slightly different based on lighting.
Please consider a rug pad for this old beauty, to keep it most protected and in place from wiggling. Here is where you can order a custom cut pad: https://www.shopblueparakeetrugs.com/collections/rug-pads/products/xl-rug-pad
